The Tarantula Nebula, the central region

Just above the centre of the image is a huge cluster of very hot young stars called R136 of about 450,000 solar masses, with an approximate diameter of 35 light-years.

Near the lower edge we find the star cluster Hodge 301. Hodge 301 is almost 10 times older than R136 with an age of 20–25 million years. The most massive stars of this cluster have already exploded in supernovae.
